Danny bought the HZ in 2013 from Crystal Brook, SA. It was a factory v8 manual, but the ol' 253 hadn't been started in over 6 years. First job was to get it running, which didn't take long, and it ran suprisingly good for an old 253. Danny rego'd it straight away and used it as his daily driver for a few months.



Danny says the wheels and bullbar were the first things to go! Replaced the bullbar with an original chrome bar, the chrome steelies were replaced with stockies and hub caps, and the rear springs were replaced with ultra lows.



After a few months the ol HZ died and needed a tow home. The coil died. Replaced it with a new one and was all good for another day but killed the new coil. Replaced it again hoping third time lucky but that too lasted only a day. Instead of looking for the electrical problem, Danny decided to park the ol' girl in the shed and drop in the new running gear he had ready for it!



The HZ hasn't moved much since, due to lack of time to finish it, but Danny says it won't be long!

The 253 was replaced with a stock stroke 308, all balanced up with A9L rods, ACL forged pistons and a Crane F280 solid cam. Heads are stock EFI heads, fully reconditioned with Crane springs, retainers, collets and rockers. Running a Torque Power hirise manifold and on top of that is a Holley 750 double pumper.

The aussie 4spd was replaced with a beefed up trimatic and 4000rpm TCE converter. Fuel system consists of the stock fuel tank feeding a Proflow pump. The stock ignition system was ditched and replaced with a Crane Hi6 ignition, blaster coil and a recondition and regraphed bosch electronic dizzy.

Few hours work and the ol' girl will fire to life, Danny's just being a slacker lol.
